About cookies

The Zesty platforms use cookies to distinguish you from other users; help us recognise you and your device and store some information about your preferences or past actions.

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is stored on your browser or the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive.

Cookies may be used on the platform to:

  • recognise you whenever you visit the platform (this speeds up your access to the platform as you do not have to log in each time)
  • obtain information about your preferences and use of the platform
  • carry out research and statistical analysis to help improve the platform, content and services and to help to better understand users’ requirements; and
  • make your platform experience more efficient and enjoyable.

Types of cookies

The following cookies are currently being used by Zesty on its corporate web site or its products commissioned by the NHS:

Essential cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of the product or service. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of the platform, register your details or access medical records.

Non-Essential cookies. These include the following:

  • Analytical/performance cookies. These are used to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around the platform when they are using it. This helps to improve the way the platform works, for example, by ensuring that users are easily finding what they are looking for.
  • Functionality cookies. These are used to recognise you when you return to the platform, to personalise content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).
